Persona 4 Analysis Part 2

For the tenth anniversary of one of our favorite games ever, Doc and Shadon do a deep dive analysis of their favorite themes, characters, story beats and more!

In Part 2, we discuss what we believe to be the core theme at the heart of the game, self acceptance. Self-improvement, communication, everything else is built upon this foundation of accepting who you are. We also discuss the nature of shadows, and our love for the idea that gaining a persona in these games is not the end but the beginning!

For the tenth anniversary of one of our favorite games ever, Doc and Shadon do a deep dive analysis of their favorite themes, characters, story beats and more!

Part 1 focuses on the social links system. We discuss how this is a fantastic example of a set of gameplay mechanics serving both the plot and the themes of a game. We talk a bit about the shortcomings in the system, and round out our discussion with our feelings on the functions of romance in video games.

A Very Akamatsu Christmas – Holiday Special w/ Third Seat By The Window

It’s a Very Akamatsu Christmas as Third Seat by the Window and Warui Deshou join forces to take on two Ken Akamatsu “beloved” Christmas “classics,” as well as play a few party games.

This episode has quite a fraught history. We all made a first pass at it in Christmas 2017, but stuff came up during recording, and we ultimately didn’t get it done. Then, we got back together six months later and recorded it as a “Christmas In July” kind of thing; however, one of our recordings got messed up about two-thirds of the way through our recording session. After some extensive editing by Buggy, the episode emerged in October of this year on the Third Seat feed. And now, we bring it to you, our Warui Deshou fans, around the time it was originally intended for! Enjoy, and Happy Holidays!
